Akira Toriyama once said that Frieza was based on shady real estate developers during Japan’s bubble economy.
Just like Frieza buys and sells planets, some companies were seen as “planet flippers” during the 1980s boom.
🔵 2. Goku’s Tail Was Removed to Keep Things Simple
Remember when Goku had a tail as a child?
Toriyama later admitted that drawing the tail in every panel became too much of a hassle—so eventually, they just wrote it out of the story.
🟣 3. The “Z” in
Dragon Ball Z
Stands for “Last”
The letter “Z” was chosen because Toriyama originally thought Dragon Ball Z would be the final chapter of the series.
(Spoiler: it wasn’t. At all.)
🔴 4. Piccolo Was the First Character to Fly Without a Device
In the early arcs, flying usually required vehicles or special gear.
But Piccolo was the first to demonstrate true flight with his own power—setting a new standard for later battles.
🟢 5. Majin Buu’s Forms Are Named After… Food Sounds!
“Buu” is a playful sound, often used in Japanese for babies or silly magic.
Other forms like Super Buu and Kid Buu continue the theme with cartoonish, childish energy—matching his candy-obsessed behavior.
